A smarter, safer way to travel with Zurich

Zurich Edge has introduced two customer first innovations for customers in Asia Pacific: Digital Wallet Policy Cards and Travel Alerts. Together, these features deliver instant access to essential policy information and real-time travel alerts, so our customers feel more informed and in control. Initial rollout covers Travel insurance in Singapore and Malaysia and Motor Insurance in Australia, with more markets and products to follow.

“Digital innovation is reshaping the way customers experience insurance. With Digital Wallet Policy Cards and Travel Alerts, we’re giving customers greater control and confidence seamlessly,” said Roopa Malhotra, Head of Customer & Digital, Zurich APAC

What’s new

  • Digital Wallet Policy Cards (IOS & Android Wallet)

Customers can add a secure, branded policy card to IOS or Android wallet and access their key details such as policy number, emergency contacts and claim forms in seconds. Even when offline or on the go, cards can be shared with family members or trusted contacts via QR code and are designed to update over time with real-time notifications (e.g., claim progress, renewal reminders). The capability is built in partnership with Miss Moneypenny Technologies, one of the Zurich Innovation Championship 2023 winners.

“The policy card becomes a living, interactive connection to Zurich’s services - human-centred, frictionless and always at hand,” said Anna Bojic, Founder & CEO of Miss Moneypenny Technologies

  • Travel Alerts (pretrip and ontrip)

Curated by specialist risk intelligence provider Riskline, Zurich’s Travel Alerts deliver concise pre-trip briefs and dynamic on-trip updates when conditions change (e.g., strikes, weather, security). With Travel Alerts spanning across 220 countries and 260 cities, travelers are ensured peace of mind, wherever they go. Arriving directly via email, these alerts require no additional effort from our customers, ensuring they stay informed about important travel updates without the need to download another app or check multiple sources. This seamless delivery keeps travelers prepared and aware, enhancing their peace of mind throughout their journey.

“By providing timely, relevant alerts directly to Zurich’s customers, we help them feel supported and informed before and during their journeys,” said Suzanne Sangiovese, CEO of Riskline.

Why it matters to customers

In recent customer research referenced by our partner Riskline, 100% of respondents said travel alerts help users feel better informed and safer, and 77% reported feeling less stressed and more secure when traveling with access to them. These insights underline the role of well-timed information in transforming the insurance experience from reactive to proactive.

Built on Zurich Edge Platform

Both features are delivered under the strategy of Zurich Edge, APAC proposition for digital insurance and are powered by in-house Zurich Edge Platform (ZEP). For partners, these features are simple to launch and seamlessly integrate into existing digital journeys; for customers, they bring clarity, speed and peace of mind at the moments that matter most: booking, predeparture and while you’re traveling.

Key benefits at a glance

  • Faster access: Policy essentials, emergency contacts and claims links in a single tap via IOS or Android wallet. Making it accessible for sharing with family.
  • Proactive safety: With no additional downloads required, our Travel Alerts deliver clear, human-verified guidance before and during your trip, so you can travel confidently and stay informed every step of the way.
  • Partner ready: Designed for quick activation and integration across multiple markets and channels.
